Introduction
KeepKit ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension that enhances Google Keep.
Information We Collect
Data We Collect
KeepKit collects the following information to provide premium features and functionality:
- Google Account Information: Your Google user ID and email address when you authenticate for premium features
- Authentication Tokens: Google access tokens to verify your identity and maintain login sessions
- Premium Status: Information about your subscription status and payment verification
- File Uploads: When you use the file upload feature, your files and their metadata are temporarily processed on our servers
- Usage Data: Extension usage statistics and error reports to improve functionality
Data We Don't Collect
We do NOT collect:
- Your Google Keep notes content (unless you explicitly upload files)
- Your Google passwords or login credentials
- Browsing history or data from other websites
How We Use Information
We use the collected information to:
- Provide Premium Features: Verify your subscription status and enable premium functionality
- Authentication: Validate your Google account and maintain secure login sessions
- File Processing: Handle file uploads to Google Drive when you use the upload feature
- Payment Processing: Process premium subscriptions through Stripe and PayPal
- Service Improvement: Analyze usage patterns and fix technical issues
Use of Email and Google User ID
When you authenticate, we receive your Google user ID and email address. We use these strictly to:
- Identify your account and associate it with your premium subscription
- Verify eligibility for premium features and prevent fraud or abuse
- Provide customer support and send transactional communications (e.g., receipts)
We do not sell your email or user ID, and we do not share them with third parties for advertising.
Data Storage and Security
KeepKit uses both local browser storage and secure external servers to provide its functionality:
Local Storage
The following data is stored locally in your browser:
- Custom background preferences and themes
- Extension settings and configurations
- User interface preferences
- Google authentication tokens stored in Chrome extension storage (
chrome.storage
) on your device
Tokens are stored using Chrome extension storage (chrome.storage
) and are scoped to the KeepKit extension. They are not accessible by web pages. We do not persist Google tokens on our servers; the extension may send a short‑lived access token to our backend only when necessary to perform actions you initiate (such as premium verification or a Google Drive upload), and always over HTTPS.
External Server Storage
We securely store on our servers (keepkit.nzapps.co.nz):
- Premium subscription information
- Payment verification data
- Temporary file processing data (automatically deleted after processing)
- Authentication session data
Third-Party Services
KeepKit integrates with several third-party services to provide its functionality:
- Google Services: We use Google APIs for authentication and Google Drive integration for file uploads
- Stripe: For processing premium subscription payments securely
- Google Keep: The extension operates within Google Keep to enhance its functionality
We only share the minimum necessary data with these services to provide the requested functionality.
API Calls to keepkit.nzapps.co.nz
The extension communicates with our backend at https://keepkit.nzapps.co.nz
to deliver premium and cloud features. Depending on the feature you use, the following data may be transmitted:
- Premium status checks: Google user ID, email, subscription identifiers, and payment session IDs for verification
- Authentication/session verification: Short‑lived Google access tokens as needed to validate your session
- File processing/uploads: File metadata and content required to complete uploads you explicitly request
All requests are sent over HTTPS. We log minimal diagnostic information (such as timestamps and error codes) for security and troubleshooting.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Uninstall the extension at any time
- Clear local storage data through your browser settings
- Contact us with any privacy concerns
Children's Privacy
KeepKit is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
